Mixed reviews from the family. Son loved the pizza. He had pineapple, bacon and chicken. Hubby said it was OK. He had the muffaletta pizza. I had the eggplant shrimp Alfredo and had to send it back because shrimp was not cleaned. However, they promptly gave me another entree for lunch and did not charge me for either. Service was impeccable.

the food was good, service was good, good price. They were just out of Vanilla ice cream and mushrooms. but in total it was good. ...

Pizza OK. Waitstaff leaves much to be desired. Wanting a break from the seafood, decided to get a pizza, and chose Rotolo's based on reviews here. Although crowed, we were seated within 5 minutes or so. The 4 in my party each ordered their own pizza, total order being 3 smalls and 1 large(some left over for later). The 3 smalls came in a fairly short time, with the waiter saying he would return with the large pizza. Did not see him again until the rest of the party was finished eating, and he was ready to dispense the check. I inquired about the missing pizza and was met with the deer in the headlights look. He disappeared, not to be heard from again, although we could see him behind the counter looking dazed and confused. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I waited another 15 minutes before summoning the front end manager. He assured me he was aware of the problem, that the order had been overlooked, and it was in the oven now. The pizza came within the next 10 minutes, I had it boxed to go, paid and left. Was it the waiters fault? The kitchens fault? Another waiter picked up the pizza for their table? Cannot answer because there was ZERO communication from the staff. Even in a half-ass run restaurant, the manager would have at least sought me out with an explanation, and not me having to go find him. In the end, it cost the waiter two turns on his table for no tip, and cost the restaurant a bad review. On the bill, I noticed they did comp the pizza by $4.99, wow.

Great place for beer and families. Pizza rocked (per our 9 year old who is a connoisseur). If you are looking for low key place with decent fare...look no further.

  • Bill N.

Excellent pizza and fairly priced. The Greek salad was awesome as well. We got the pizza to go and it was just as good heated up the next day. Definitely will go back.

Great time - service was the best!

Really good pizza and good service. We had a party of 11 and things went smoothly. The wrap was a bit too crspy, but everything else was good.

Great pizza! Loved the sweep the floor pizza. Service was great. Nice selection of craft beers. Very clean.

  • B N.

Good salad, above average pizza, decent prices, and good draft craft beer made for a happy and satisfied customer.

Placed a to go order. Pizza was delicious!

Eating here took forever....The pizza was decent -I really liked the sauce. It was sweet and spicy. The largest pie was an 18" with 8 regular slices. Our appetizer came out with our food....so we sent it back. The staff was very nice. I am ok if we go back and ok if not; hence the 3 stars.

This was our second time visiting as we prefer local places instead of chains. Pizza was fast, hot and good. Cheese sticks or should a say cheese bread was great as well. Nothing bad to say.

Should have known. Sometimes the snowbirds bring in good service and care. Not here. First, the place was dirty - and I mean dirty. Napkins - dusty Silverware - foul in color Floor - gross Menu/condiments - sticky Then it took about ten minutes for us to be seated (which merely meant a staff argument about the tip). My water glass was dirty, the pizza took forever and tasted awful. It was more like sweet damp dough wilth way too much sauce. I am usually an excellent tipper, and was glad to NOT see the bickering over the 12% i left behind (which was generous). Off my my list. Pizza really isn't my thing anyway.....

  • David S.

Great pizza, good service and small but good draft beer selection. Pizza was fresh and was fast

  • AJ K.

Sorry, but just can't see what all the fuss was about. The pizza was ok, tasted like something you'd grab from a gas station convenience store. $8 for a 4 slice, personal sized pizza is a bit steep too, if I'm being honest here. Our waitress was great though :)

  • Joshua D.

We had a 14" pie split in half with the cheeseburger and Joe Horn BBQ Chicken. It was absolutely amazing!

  • Greer H.

We were there in April during our visit not crowded. Staff extremely friendly. Good selection of craft beer. I loved their pizza. Husband and I split a half muffelleta half deluxe combo on whole wheat crust. SisterInLaw is a vegaterian and got to order a pizza the way she likes. Wish there was a Rotolo's Pizzeria in Tennessee close to where we live. It will definately be a stop on our trips to Orange Beach.

We ordered two pizzas, a walnut cranberry salad and wings. It was a good change from the typical beach fare. I got half pepperoni half pepperoni and mushroom. Not the best pizza I have ever had but good none the less. The other pizza was the deluxe. It was good as well. My wife had the salad and she enjoyed it. I enjoyed the wings the most. They were the sweet/spicy wings. Not to spicy but a good balance. It was Saturday night in September. We ordered it to go and got our order in about 20 min. If you want pizza at the beach this is a good choice.

Had dinner tonight, it was so so! Understand this is Spring Break time, but the kitchen seemed overwhelmed. We had garlic bites which were very tough. I had Chicken Alfredo it was not that good, the chicken tasted like canned chicken and Alfredo sauce was watery. My husband had a pizza which he said was good. The waitress was so apologetic about the wait time for food to come out. Manager was trying to put out "fires" all over Resturant due to slow service of the kitchen.

  • Ron K.

Disappointing. Expected a lot more from a restaurant that averaged 4 stars. The pizza was very skimpy in toppings. Felt somewhat cheated. Mostly crust. I ordered the Popeye and I'm not sure there was any feta cheese on it. As a result, it wasn't flavorful. Overall, it was a letdown.

  • Kristen M.

Amazing food! Our waiter was the best. Very helpful and attentive. It's a little on the pricey side but we enjoyed our dining experience

    (5)
  • Kevin H.

Pizza was really good. Order was suppose to take 20 minutes, but took about 50 minutes. Overall, would eat there again.

  • Matt H.

First time here, but wont be the last! Has the buffalo chicken pizza and WOW it was fantastic! Also had the spinach dip which was also very good. The staff was great as well. Hope they keep this level of service and food up! Give them a try.

  • James L.

This place was excellent. I'm too picky to hand out five star ratings all the time but had this been a little less expensive this would get it. We ordered a large pizza and garlic Parmesan bites and wow it was good. The wife LOVED the bites. Pizza was great. We got it to go so can't comment on service. Above order was about $25. We will be back for sure and might amend the rating.

    (4)
  • Charlie S.

The price for the quality we received just don't compute well. The pizza was dry, small, & just didn't have the best flavor for over $20! I would not recommend. Just use an online coupon and get Papa Johns unless you just want something local...them get something else!

We have mixed feelings about Rotolo's. We went on a Tuesday night, around 7:45. The place was fairly empty, with only one person doing everything from seating people, taking orders, delivering food, answering the phone, etc. After waiting a few minutes by the hostess stand, she called across the room to seat ourselves, so we did. We ordered the Popeye pizza on wheat with chicken. What we got was good, but not great. First, it wasn't hot when we got it. (Our guess is that it had sat in the window for a while since there was only one person doing everything.) Second, it was a little heavy on the garlic. Third, it was on white dough, not wheat. When I asked if it was on wheat, the hostess said she didn't know - she'd never eaten the wheat pizza dough, so she didn't know what it looked like. She went off to ask the cook. She came back to refill our drinks, bring the check, etc., and never told us what the cook had said until I asked again. Her answer was that it was wheat, but they made it themselves, which is why it was so white. (I'm sorry, but it was NOT wheat dough!) The service was disappointing as well. Not once did she smile at us, welcome us to the restaurant, or thank us for our business. It was clear she'd rather be anywhere but there. So, while the food wasn't as we had ordered it, it was OK. The service, while not friendly, was OK. Nothing to write home about, though.

Ordered food for 6 people to go and had a beer at the bar. Beer was cold, pizza was weird. Almost like it had been cooked a long time before we ever got it to take home. The pasta was a bit bland, the wings were good, ordered a garden salad and got a Caesar. The ticket even said garden so it had to be the kitchen's error. The tomato basil soup was chunky even though it said it was a puréed soup that was "smooth." Wasn't a fan of it... Didn't expect much else from a pizza place on the beach. I'd go back for the draft beer selection but that's about it.

    (3)
  • Lori T.

Service was good. Pizza was good but not outstanding; should have been better for the price. They ran out of Bud light which was supposed to be a choice of the happy hour pitcher special. I can't say as we would go back but hey, what can you expect for pizza at the beach?

    (3)
  • Greg G.

Please choose this over the over hyped Lillian's. Unlike Lillian's this place has friendly staff that care and the food is substantially better.

    (4)
  • Jim G.

5 stars for the speed (14 mins for pickup) and 1 star for the pizza. Tasteless and boring pizza like Pizza Hut. Nice decor inside. We won't try it again.

    (3)
  • Chris M.

Nice place. Good pizza, not the best I've ever had, but very good. Menu contains a small selection of off-the-beaten-path pizza options. However, the majority will feel familiar. Service was decent. Great drink specials.

  • Brian C.

First time in Orange Beach and Rotolo's is across from the hotel. Had the 14" pepperoni and it was outstanding! The crust was just right, crispy and the ingredients were fresh. This is my new favorite pizza joint!

  • Josiah B.

Service was a little slow but the restaurant was busy on a Saturday night (5:30p), but the waitress was very attentive and nice. Food was high quality for sure. Menu items and food quality are very similar to Mellowmushroom. We will be back.

  • Cheri C.

Great staff, excellent food and a really nice selection of local beer. Wonderful variety of pizza and they do individual sizes, spaghetti and meatballs were tasty as well. Order the flat bread appetizer while you wait- the Chalmatte has a nice kick! It's our go to first meal when we go to Orange Beach.

  • Jeff J.

Wow so good! Went with our two young kids. Great atmosphere. They came out to tell us that our pizzas were burnt a little on the bottom so they were starting over. She apologized and offered complimentary Garlic Parmesan Bites while we waited. Also she gave the kids gelato ice creams after the meal. The Garlic Parmesan Bites were amazing, Pizza was some of the best I've had, and the cookies and cream gelato was the best ice cream I've had. I'd go back just for the gelato! Can't wait to return - this and The Hangout are my top two spots in Orange Beach!!

  • Richard V.

Pizza was typical from a chain restaurant. Expensive Papa John style pizza. Service was slow. Took 45 min to get drinks refilled. Calzone was all dough with very little cheese. Don't think I will be back.

  • Grace L.

Excellent place to be with friends, food is tasty. Lots of options for pastas and pizzas. The bartender made some great drinks too. Get the salted caramel gelato. Atmosphere is casual so I give it a three star rating, not bc of lack of greatness. Prices are great. Only once was there an order glitch, but they didn't charge me for my meal. I never asked to be comped. So they backed up the service well. Mistakes can happen to anyone. I love this place to hangout after work in.

Family and I ordered carry out. Pizza and wings. Pizza was pretty good and wings were ok. Nothing spectacular.

    (4)
  • Justin H.

Great pizza and great service. I was surprised how great the pizza tasted! We will definitely be coming back next time we're down here.

    (5)
  • Dieter H.

Great atmosphere. House wine was good and reasonable priced. Cocktail was excellent. 18' pizza was also very good. Only thing which could be approved was the artichoke dip. Here we had better dip experiences. Free WLAN could be added for the future. Service was excellent.

  • Brooke P.

Got 3 12" pizzas and a salad for 5 people, perfect amount of food with some to take home. Gelato is tasty too! Sat outside and listened to good music over the speakers...perfect summer setting for when you don't want seafood!

    (5)
  • David C.

Best pizza we've found in Orange Beach. Friendly staff and plenty of outside seating. We prefer the thin crust, which reminds me of traditional Brooklyn-style pizza. Price is very reasonable.

    (4)
  • Tyler C.

Great pizza after a long day at the beach. Good craft beer selection. Highly recommend if you are looking for something other than seafood. Also, official pizza of the NOLA Saints! Can't go wrong here!

    (4)
  • Paul S.

You can only eat fried seafood so much. A newer Rotolo's, with the standard pizza place fare. If you like one Rotolo's, you'll like them all. Happy hour 2-530. The homemade Balsamic Vinegrette dressing is really good.

  • Kenneth Patrick J.

We have been to Rotolos four or five different times and we have tried everything from their salads, sandwiches, pasta and pizza. I would say our dining experience has always been very good with consistently good food and service.

Came here late-ish on a Wednesday night with my fiance and family for dinner while on vacation. We chose this restaurant because I have a severe shellfish allergy so these kinds of restaurants tend to be pretty low-risk for me. That being said, I walked in with zero expectations. First impression: We walked in and it was pretty busy, so I took that as a good sign. The hostess seemed occupied seating a few other parties - no problem I just meandered over to the bar to take a look at their beer selection. They had more beers on tap than I assumed they would for a pizza place, so that was cool. The restaurant had a very laid back feel. Nothing special, really. Pretty soon we were seated and our waiter was right over to take care of us. The food: We ordered the spinach dip and the five pound pizza. The spinach dip was hot, hearty, and delicious. It paired well with the pita bread. The pizza was packed with toppings, and also very good. The pizza was not very greasy but very filling. We were four (very hungry) people and had no problem finishing the pizza. The menu says it feeds up to six which i could see being the case depending on your group. Afterwards we all agreed that we were full but did not feel weighed down by the food and would have ordered dessert had it not been closing time already. The service: I can't remember our waiters name but I do remember he had white gauges and was very friendly! He was attentive, quick, eager to help and made us all feel very welcome. I especially enjoyed his help in selecting a new beer to try (I had the Hopsun I think). Tl;dr - Unassuming restaurant with a good crowd, good food, and good service. Would visit again.

Good pizza and prices are reasonable. Plenty of beer on tap, service better than average. Ate here twice on vacation....try the meatball calzone!

  • R S.

Best pizza in the area, bar none. Don't even bother with the others. You can get 4 different sizes, so everyone can have what they want if that's a issue. If we would have had a server that was capable of getting more than one thing right it would be a 5 star rating. While the food was great, the whole experience was almost ruined by the inept service. Even so, we'll go back for sure, it's that good. Why is it that so many places in this area, have a hard time getting both food and service done without issues? Issues: Server provided no plates or additional napkins for the pizza. Just the pizza on a metal tray. Then disappeared. Then she double billed us, our order plus someone else's that was significantly more. I caught it, they stated it was fixed, but my bank showed two charges. Had to call the manager the next day.

  • Sabine N.

Had the veg pizza on wheat. It was under cooked and the crust was way too sweet.

    (2)
  • K J.

Pretty good.. Had carry out. Online ordering is very simple.. We had large 1/2 bacon cheeseburger and 1/2 4 cheese.. Which was Pretty good. Also had sweep the floor calzone which was great! Cheese sticks mediocre.. Prob better in the restaurant but were hard as a bricks by the time we got it home to eat... And were just 1 mile away!

Best Pizza on the beach. Experience can vary by which waiter you have. Some are super cool others have no pulse.

Got the calzone. It was good.

Even though Rotolo's is a franchise and is proud to be the "Official Pizza of the New Orleans Saints", we decided to give them a whirl a few nights ago at the beach. I have to say the whole family was pleasantly surprised that not only was the pizza good, it was outstanding. Their pizzas come in 4 different sizes, which is convenient when you are trying to feed adults and little ones. The girls ordered two personal 8" pizzas that were hot, fresh, and full of flavor ( I stole a bite). We ordered the Combination specialty pizza and it was out of this world. A hand tossed dough with a perfect meat- vegetable- cheese- sauce ratio. The pizza wasn't drowning in sauce or dripping with cheese. They have the formula down to a science. Our pie was covered in really nice fresh vegetables and meats like green peppers, thin sliced mushrooms, red onions, thin sliced pepperoni, and italian sausage. I know there are as many opinions on pizza as there are pizza joints around, but if you are a fan of great toppings, this is the place for you. Rotolo's is the best pizza I have had on the Gulf Coast by far and will definitely be going back on our next beach trip!

Good pizza. Good salads. Local favorite. A good dine in pizza option.

  • Mark C.

excellent pizza if your vacationing in Orange Beach, Alabama. Me and my wife ate here for lunch, wanting a break from all the fish joints all over the place. The food was good, pizza was baked just right, and the prices were reasonable. Less than $25 for the both of us. If your in the area on vacation, save yourself the trip to Mellow Mushroom pizza....that place just sucks. When we return next year, we're for certain going to be eating here again.

    (5)
  • Puddy P.

We got the 10 piece wings and a pepperoni/mushroom piazza. The pizza was good (better than Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc.) and the wings were great. We fought over them, so apparently didn't order enough. The service was good and the Yuengling's were tasty. I'd definitely go back when I am in Orange Beach. Pros: quality; family friendly Cons: hard as hell to find on my Tom Tom GPS

  • T.J. G.

This may have been my favorite meal while we were in Orange Beach this year. The half Garden Salad was enough for my wife and I to split. We had the Mufaletta Sandwich. It was very good. The chips were fine. We also split a medium Italian Club pizza. Very tasty. My wife's only complaint was the 50 cent charge for an extra salad dressing. All around great dinner meal even though we were there after 8 PM.

Ah! Why aren't there any reviews for this place?! We need to get people in so they can make it until the Spring rush! 1. Drink specials. Amazing. 2-for-1 Shocktops run you $4. 2. Salads. Half salads = full salads for one. Full salads = full salads for 2! 3. SWEEP THE FLOOR PIZZA! No idea why they call it this, but I don't care. It's incredible. A mouth explosion of delight. Go here. Support your local pizza joint.

  • Jeff T.

Run away! Do not eat here! Worst restaurant experience ever! Waited 50 minutes for our order, food came out cold, wrong ingredients, hair in the food. To make matters worse 2 of us got ill later in the day! Manager Nate is a real idiot, never came to the table to apologize and only comped one kids pizza. Run away! Do not eat here!! Restaurants like this should not last

Good pizza and great selection of draft.

Rotolo's is A-OK. Nothing special but not terrible either. I ordered the Garlic Chicken Alfredo Pizza and the soft & chewy crust was excellent. I ordered a side of pizza sauce for dipping and I thought it had a really nice zip to it and the parmesan on top was a nice touch. I do have two complaints though. First off, the chicken was so thinly sliced that it was dry, sort of like chicken jerky. Not exactly the texture I'm looking for on a pizza pie. Also, it seemed they just kind of "slopped" on the alfredo sauce. I think a thin layer is all you need. Otherwise, it's just a soupy mess. My wife ordered the calzone and I think it's the first overcooked, dry calzone I've ever eaten from any restaurant. That being said, the ingredients were very tasty and the dipping sauce made up for it somewhat. Oh, and the Greek Salad was delish! I think with some attention detail, Rotolo's could be truly great. The service was fantastic and the New Orleans Saints to-go cups are a nice keepsake! Thanks Rotolo's!

We ate here a couple weeks ago and it was definitely worth a return trip. The salad was crisp and tasty and the pizza was loaded with toppings. Service was very good

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
